That’s what Amanda Bynes is doing, according to the Huffington Post. The Hairspray actress, who has not had a major movie role since that 2007 film, says she’s quitting because she doesn’t love the work anymore.
“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” Bynes, who announced her retirement via Twitter, wrote. “I’ve never written the movies and TV shows I’ve been a part of. I’ve only acted like the characters the directors or producers wanted me to play.”
Her last role is reportedly a supporting bit in Easy A, starring Emma Stone. The film is in post-production and should be released in the fall.
It’s a quick turnaround from January, when Bynes removed a few clothes for a Maxim photo spread. In that interview, she said she wouldn’t do porn but would be up for starring in a “sexy movie” if Leonardo DiCaprio were involved.
Bynes attracted a minor attention storm in February when she announced a preference for dating “chocolate” men. She repeated that tidbit on her Twitter page immediately before announcing her retirement.
